Tournaments
The R.C.C.C. is an affiliate of the U.S.C.F. We usually hold two or three U.S.C.F. rated
open Swiss tournaments each Summer and other U.S.C.F. and U.S.C.F. Quick tournaments throughout the
year. For years, The Rutherford County Open, The Murfreesboro Grand Prix, and The Battle of
Murfreesboro, have been some of the most popular tournaments in Tennessee, and they consistently
draw players from several states. For the forseeable future, most of our tournaments will be held in
Murfreesboro at the Grace Lutheran Church (map), 811
East Clark Boulevard, Murfreesboro, or the Trinity Presbyterian Church (map), 1020 North Rutherford Boulevard.
Upcoming Major R.C.C.C. Tournaments
The 2010 Rutherford County Open was held on Saturday, May 29, 2010.
The 18th Battle Of Murfreesboro will be held on Saturday, August 21, 2010.
Play U.S.C.F. Rated Games
Sometimes, we organize events that offer players opportunities to play rated games at club meetings.
These events might include Swiss and round robin tournaments, one-on-one multi-game matches, club
ladders, etc. (both regular and quick rated). These events will be based on the amount of interest
by the players present, so if there's a particular format that interests you, show up and lobby for it.
Organizing Additional Tournaments
If you're an R.C.C.C. member, or even if you just play at the club a lot, and you'd like to organize a tournament,
consider submitting a proposal using this form. It could
be anything from a small round robin with three or four friends, to an open Swiss tournament.
To become a certified tournament director, submit this form to
ratings@uschess.org at the U.S.C.F. Also, be sure to read the
Tournament Director Certification Standards.
