The Rutherford County Chess Club (R.C.C.C.) was founded in 1992 and organized as a non-profit corporation in 2005. The club meets on Fridays at 7:00 P.M. at Grace Lutheran Church (map), 811 East Clark Boulevard, Murfreesboro, Tennessee. Club meetings are open to the public, and players of all ages and skill levels are welcome to attend our informal club meetings. Apart from the sporting aspect of the game, you will experience a cordial atmosphere in which you will make friends, which has been a key factor in the success of our club. Instruction for beginners is available, and we also offer standard tournament chess equipment.
The R.C.C.C. is an affiliate of the U.S.C.F. We usually hold two or three U.S.C.F. rated open Swiss tournaments each Summer and other U.S.C.F. and U.S.C.F. Quick tournaments throughout the year. For years, The Rutherford County Open, The Murfreesboro Grand Prix, and The Battle of Murfreesboro, have been some of the most popular tournaments in Tennessee, and they consistently draw players from several states. The R.C.C.C. has not and does not charge membership fees or dues. However, there are costs related to maintenance and club activities. While profit from our tournaments often cover most of our expenses, the club accepts small donations and sponsorship for upkeep and to provide for additional or improved chess activities. Any such contributions should be sent to the club's mailing address or handed in person to any of our club directors. We emphasize that this is strictly voluntary.
